If you’re considering transporting your tiny home yourself, here are key factors to keep in mind:
- Vehicle Requirements: Ensure you have a vehicle rated for towing your tiny home’s weight and size.
- Weight Calculations:
- All our tiny homes have a 1,000-pound tongue weight.
- Incred-I-Box Models weigh approximately 33 pounds per square foot, calculated without added furnishings or appliances.
- Model Line Homes weigh approximately 66 pounds per square foot, also excluding additional items.
- To Estimate Total Weight: Multiply the length by the width to find square footage, then multiply by the respective weight (33# or 66# per square foot).
PREPARATIONS
FOR SETUP
- Leveling & Support: Plan for proper support and leveling of your tiny home once it’s parked. This may include blocks or wood to secure the structure without relying on the tires.
- Skirting & Insulation: Consider installing skirting around the home for insulation and protection against pests. Removing the tires and storing them can add stability and prolong tire life.
UTILITY CONNECTIONS
Before moving into your tiny home, check that all utilities are ready for connection.
- Electrical: Standard 30 or 50-volt RV-style connections are required.
- Water: Use a freshwater source, either plumbed directly or connected via an RV-style hose.
- Sewer: Connect a flexible sewer hose to an existing sewer line, or opt for hard plumbing as needed.
